The cat is finally out of the bag. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige took the stage at D23 on Friday to drop a massive bombshell for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the official, highly anticipated roster for the MCU’s upcoming X-Men film.
Set to hit theaters on May 5, 2028, the movie is officially wiping the slate clean with a fresh, star-studded lineup ready to lead mutantkind into a brand-new era.
A Star-Studded New Generation of Mutants
After years of fan speculation and waiting for Marvel to fold Fox’s prized property into the mainstream MCU, we finally know who is stepping into the iconic spandex.
The inaugural MCU mutant roster features an incredible blend of rising Hollywood talent:
- Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) as the telepathic powerhouse Jean Grey
- Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as the laser-eyed team leader Cyclops
- Maya Boyd as the weather-controlling icon Storm
- Samara Weaving as the formidable Emma Frost

- Christopher Abbott as the visionary mentor Professor X
If that wasn't enough to break the internet, blockbuster heavyweight Adam Driver was officially unveiled as the movie's primary antagonist, stepping into the role of the sinister geneticist, Mister Sinister.
Transitioning From the Fox Era
It has been a long road for Marvel's merry mutants. The X-Men haven't properly assembled on the big screen since 2019’s Dark Phoenix, which closed out the younger prequel era that starred James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Sophie Turner.
