Authorities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have launched an urgent public appeal following the disappearance of two teenage sisters from a residential care group in Güstrow.
The case, which has drawn widespread attention across the region, centers on 14-year-old Loyza Stoianovych and her 15-year-old sister, Regina Stoianovych. Originally from Ukraine, the two girls have been living in the German town, but their recent disappearance has sparked concern and a coordinated police response.
A Timeline of the Disappearance
According to local law enforcement, the sequence of events began on August 11. Loyza Stoianovych was last seen around 1:30 PM that day, after which she seemingly vanished without a trace. Just two days later, on August 13 at approximately 10:00 PM, her older sister Regina also disappeared from the residential facility.
While police initially delayed a public appeal because both girls are known to authorities as repeat runaways—frequently referred to as "Dauerausreißerinnen"—the prolonged absence has now elevated the urgency of the search.
Where Are the Sisters Now?
Investigators believe the two teenagers are likely traveling together. Police spokesperson Stefan Baudler noted that authorities cannot rule out the possibility that the girls left out of a sense of adventure rather than danger. Current investigative leads suggest the teenagers may have made their way to Berlin.
